How-to guide
How to run your screens
Each section is one job. Follow the steps in order. The words in bold are the buttons and pages in the desk.
How to put the first picture on a television
Do this once. After it works, use the shorter guides below.
- Open the desk and sign in.
- Go to Library. Choose Upload a file, pick a JPEG, PNG, or MP4, and press Upload.
- Go to Playlists. Type a name such as Lobby and press Create.
- Open that playlist. Choose the file you just uploaded, type how many seconds it should stay, and press Add to playlist.
- On the television, open the browser and go to https://signage.pulse360communications.com/pair. A short code appears.
- Back on the desk, open Screens. Type the code, name the screen, and press Pair.
- Open the new screen. Under Usual playlist, choose the playlist you created and press Save screen.
- Leave the television browser open. The picture plays, then repeats.
The screen is online when it has checked in during the last 45 seconds. You can see that on Overview.
How to sign in
- If you do not have an account, start a trial. Enter the organization, your name, a work email, and a password of at least 8 characters.
- On the same form, answer What do the screens show? That choice is covered in the next section.
- Press Create the trial.
- Later, open the sign-in page, enter the same email and password, and press the sign-in button.
A new account already has a Lobby playlist with a welcome slide, a Templates playlist, and eight posters. The Templates playlist is not on a screen until you assign it. Replace the example words and prices before you do.
How to choose what the screens show
- On the trial form, open What do the screens show?
- Pick the line that matches the room. A cafe picks Smart Menu. A bank picks Banking. A shop picks Retail Promo & Media.
- If none of them fit, pick Something else and write what the screens should show.
- Finish creating the account.
The pack decides which boxes you see on Phone and in the library. A cafe still sees dishes, drive-thru, sold out, pictures, calories, and allergens. A bank sees rates, not a drive-thru. Something else leaves every menu field on.
To change it later, open Packs, choose the pack, and apply it. That adds starter slides and a playlist with the pack’s name. Assign that playlist to a screen yourself. Example prices are not your till.
- Smart Menu — QSR and cafes. Menu boards, dayparts, sold-out rows, calories, allergens, and a drive-thru layout.
- Retail Promo & Media — Shops. A price list, a campaign slide, and the ad slots you already price yourself.
- Frontline Comms — Shops, plants, and wards. Notices the phone can mark as read, plus a shift board and a recognition slide.
- Factory Floor — Plants. A safety-count slide and a line-status slide. The leave and stay buttons stay on the phone.
- Patient Flow — Clinics and hospitals. A token board and a short wayfinding slide. It does not give clinical advice.
- Campus Safety — Schools and universities. Leave and stay slides, an events slide, and a cafeteria menu. CAP stays on Operations.
- Transit Info — Stops, stations, and airports. A departure board and a disruption slide.
- Workplace Hub — Offices. A room slide, a visitor welcome, and a KPI slide.
- Hospitality — Hotels. An event-of-the-day slide and a welcome slide.
- Banking — Branches. A rates board and a token board. Rates change when you edit them.
How to add a picture or a video
- Open Library.
- Press Upload a file.
- Type a name if you want one. The file name is used when you leave this blank.
- Choose a JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, or MP4. The limit is 80 MB.
- Choose Fit inside the screen or Fill the screen, crop the edges.
- Press Upload.
- The file is in the library. It does not play until you add it to a playlist. Use How to build a playlist below.
A picture that is already on the web uses Picture link instead. Paste the address. That kind of picture does not use your storage.
How to write a text slide
- Open Library and press Text slide.
- Type a name, the title people should read, and the line under it.
- Pick a colour: Forest, Pulse red, Paper, or Ink.
- Choose centre or left.
- Save the slide.
- Add it to a playlist and set the seconds. A long line needs more seconds than a short one. Studio can check that before you save a draft.
How to build a playlist
- Open Playlists.
- Type a name, such as Morning menu, and press Create.
- Click the playlist name.
- Under Add from the library, choose an item.
- Type the seconds. The shortest is 3. The longest is 8 hours.
- Press Add to playlist.
- Repeat for the next item. Use Up and Down to change the order. Press Remove to take one item off. The library copy stays.
The screen plays the list from top to bottom, then starts again. One playlist can be on several screens. Saving a change updates every screen that uses it, while the player stays open.
How to pair a screen
- On the television, open a browser. Do not install an app.
- Go to https://signage.pulse360communications.com/pair.
- Read the code on the television. It expires after 30 minutes. If it expires, refresh the page and use the new code.
- On the desk, open Screens. You can also pair from Phone.
- Type the code and a screen name, such as Front window.
- Press Pair.
- Open the screen, choose the Usual playlist, and press Save screen.
- On the television, hide the address bar with the set’s full-screen control. Leave that browser running.
This works in Chrome, on Windows, Android, Fire TV, Samsung Tizen, and LG webOS. A commercial display can open the same address when it powers on.
How to change what is playing
Use this when the screen is already paired.
- Open Playlists and click the playlist named on that screen.
- Add, remove, or reorder items, or change the seconds, then save.
- Wait for the current item to finish. The player picks up the new list on its own. You do not restart the television.
To show one item immediately, open Screens, tick the screen, choose Play now, pick the library item, and apply it.
To point the screen at a different playlist, open the screen, change Usual playlist, and press Save screen.
How to change a price from the phone
- On your phone, sign in and open Phone.
- Find the menu. Each row shows the item and its price.
- Type the new price in that row.
- To add an item, use a blank line. Type the name and the price.
- Press Save menu.
The screen drops a sold-out row. Breakfast shows from 05:00 to 11:00, lunch from 11:00 to 16:00, and evening from 16:00 to 23:00, in the account timezone. A row set to all day stays up.
If the pack is a bank, the box says Rate, not Price. If the pack has no menu, this section is hidden. Open Packs if you expected a menu and do not see one.
How to mark an item sold out
- Open Phone.
- On the item, tick Sold out.
- Press Save menu.
That item leaves the screen. Untick Sold out and save again when it is back. Tick Remove item and save when you want the line gone, not just hidden.
Some packs do not use sold out. The tick is hidden on those accounts.
How to play a different loop at lunch
- Build a second playlist, for example Lunch.
- Open Screens and click the screen.
- Under Schedules, choose the Lunch playlist.
- Tick the days, set From and Until, and leave priority at 0 unless two windows overlap.
- Press Add schedule.
During those hours the schedule replaces the usual playlist. If two schedules overlap, the higher priority wins. If the end time is earlier than the start time, the window runs through midnight.
Wake and sleep are separate. On the same screen, set Wake and Sleep, then press Save screen. Leave both empty to stay on all the time. An alert still shows when the screen would otherwise be dark.
How to make a poster
- Open Library and press Design.
- Type a name.
- Press Add text or Add box. Drag the words into place. Change the background colour if you want.
- Press Save design.
- Add that design to a playlist the same way you add a picture.
The board is 1920 by 1080. Saving stores a picture, and the screen plays that picture. To change it later, open the design and press Edit design.
A new account already has eight posters. When Gemini can be reached, it writes those words. If it cannot, the posters keep the example lines. Edit them before they play.
How to show an alert on every screen
- Open Operations, or open Phone if you are on the floor.
- For the prepared messages, press Leave the building or Stay where you are.
- For your own words, type the message, choose how long it stays, and press Show on every screen.
Players check about every 5 seconds, so the message can take that long to appear. Press Clear alert when it should stop. It also stops when the time you chose runs out, and the playlist returns.
A floor notice is different. Write it under Operations. People open Phone and press I have read this. That notice does not play on the television.
How to fix a blank or offline screen
- On Overview or Screens, check the status. Offline means the player has not checked in.
- Look at the television. The browser must still be open on the player page. If someone closed it, open https://signage.pulse360communications.com/pair again only if the screen was removed. If it is still paired, reopen the player address the set was using.
- If the code was rejected, it is older than 30 minutes. Refresh the pair page and type the new code.
- If the screen is online but black, open it on the desk and check Usual playlist. An empty playlist has nothing to show. Add an item, or choose a playlist that has items.
- Check Wake and Sleep. Outside those hours the screen stays dark on purpose.
- If you changed the playlist and the television still shows the old item, wait until that item’s seconds finish. Or tick the screen and press Reload selected.
What this desk does not do
- It does not install an app on the television. The browser is the player.
- It does not take a card payment. Call +91 9211682404 or email hello@pulse360communications.com to change plan. The plan changes when the invoice is paid. Card checkout is not on this desk.
- A pack can name a till, a calendar, a hospital record, a fire panel, a flight board, or a factory machine. Unless you have saved a point of sale under POS, that connection is not connected.
- Point of sale is a pull you start. It matches items by name. It is not a live stream from the till.
- Count movement is off until you tick it on that screen. The desk stores a count, not a picture.
- This company is not ISO 27001 or SOC 2 certified.
How to ask for help
- Sign in and open Tickets. Write what you were trying to do and what the screen showed.
