Rules that change what is on the screen

Screens go stale when someone has to remember. On Operations you save a rule: a when, and a then.

Use cases

A webhook should raise an alert

Choose “A webhook fires”, then “Show an alert”, “Pin an item”, “Mark a menu item sold out”, or “Switch the playlist”. The rule has its own address. Do not publish that address.

Breakfast should end on the clock

Choose “The clock matches”, pick the days and the hours, and switch the playlist. Menu rows can also use breakfast, lunch, and evening dayparts.

A hot day or a sold-out row

On Growth and Enterprise, a weather rule uses the place saved on Account. A sold-out rule watches the menu after a point-of-sale pull. Either can alert, pin an item, or switch the playlist.

On this desk

  • Webhook, clock, weather, and sold-out triggers.
  • Actions: alert, pin, mark sold out, or switch playlist.
  • Weather and sold-out rules are on Growth and Enterprise.
  • A sold-out switch wins over a weather switch.

Not on this desk

  • A visual builder for sensors, queue length, calendars, and inventory systems is not on this desk.
  • Square, Toast, Clover, Lightspeed, Petpooja, and Shopify are a pull you start. Stock hitting zero does not hide a row by itself.
  • A fire panel, SCADA, PLC, OPC UA, and MQTT are not rule triggers.

Questions

Can a rule hide an item the moment Square stock hits zero?

No. Start a pull under POS, or tick Sold out on Phone and press Save menu. A sold-out rule on Growth and Enterprise then watches that menu.

Where do I save a rule?

Open Operations. The when list is a webhook, the clock, and on Growth and Enterprise the temperature or a sold-out item.
